Love the skin your in as much as he does.

“That’s the key, you know, confidence. I know for a fact that if you genuinely like your body, so can others. It doesn’t really matter if it’s short, tall, fat or thin, it just matters that you can find some things to like about it. Even if that means having a good laugh at the bits of it that wobble independently."

Dawn French - Dear Fatty.

When I meet new brides-to-be I will inevitably have a conversation with them in regards to pre-wedding weight-loss.   This is something I completely understand and support  if any of my brides mention this is what they want to do.   At Beautiful Bird we hold off making the gown to give ample time for our brides to really give it a good shot. Now I am all for feeling good about your-self and when you have such an important day ahead of you why shouldn't you look and feel your very best.  I am also a tireless dieter, I know the aches and pains of trying to loose the last 5kilos that will make you look like Claudia Schiffer, I also know that there are sneaky ways to help every body shape and size if you just can't get to where you want to be before your big day.
This is important as sometimes  your body will simply not allow you to look the way you imagined; and why shouldn't you look the way you imagined?

Creating silhouettes was something I had to do at college,  it was about using the actor that had been cast and creating the correct historical silhouette; adapting clothing to enhance the look that was required, rather then changing how their body actually looked.  This has translated rather well into my years of Bridal design.  I have come across all shapes and sizes and it really isn't about being fat or thin, it can be as simple as having a larger bust then bottom, or having  longer torso then legs.   These are well known and categorised as Banana (boy, Column), Apple, Pear and Hourglass.

Taking this basic knowledge you can really adapt most garments to work on all body types; accentuating  hips for example to weigh out a heavier bust (Apple) helping to create a smaller waist.  Lifting the waist line to under-bust to create and empire, helping the bust  look smaller as the body becomes longer.

This then makes it possible for you to have the dress you have always wanted.  It is simply a case of creating the correct silhouette and helping to enhance all the good bits that you like about your body.

When you look through bridal or fashion magazines you often don't see the bull dog clips holding in the garment on the model,  the hidden tricks of the trade that help a photographed  dress look its absolute best.  At Beautiful Bird we always say 'we make the dress to fit the bride, not the bride to fit the dress.'

On that note, loose weight, tone up and do your very best and before you loose patience and potentially want to cause physical harm to the likes of Kate Moss, it is worth remembering that 'he' has already fallen for you, 'he' knows what you look like and 'he' has probably had a sneaky look under the covers whilst you've been  asleep, you are always beautiful to him so love the skin your in as much as he does.

See you next week!
